In this role, you will coordinate and assist with health care provision and education of individuals with disabilities in assigned residential settings, providing staff education in health related areas, while working in a casual atmosphere, with a comfortable dress code and real work-life balance.
The work schedule for our Residential Services RN's is Monday through Friday (8 a.m. to 4 p.m., no weekends), with flexibility to meet program needs. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A REGISTERED NURSE
In this role, you will perform duties within the NYSED Registered Nurse scope of practice; will assess health related needs of individuals living in residences, while coordinating with health care/services providers, clinical and residential staff to meet these needs. You will function as a member of the individual's program planning team to ensure that all medical/clinical and dietary needs are identified, and provided for in each individual service plan, will create and update individual nursing assessments, and will ensure that all medical/health concerns, treatments, and recommendations are properly documented and followed-up. You will interpret medical tests screenings and diagnosis to staff and team members, will participate in admission planning to ensure all health related needs, treatments, referral to other health related providers, and/or transfer/discharge planning with programs/hospital or agencies are met. You will perform admission and semi-annual review of medications, monitor its effects and will report to health care providers (as necessary), ensuring medications are properly ordered/renewed, while evaluating the individuals for self-administration of medication status and will monitor the self-administration of medication programs. You will coordinate medical/clinical appointments, will monitor immunization records, communicable diseases and infection control practice to ensure compliance with all regulations, policies and procedures; you will review medication errors, making recommendations to the management staff, and may provide direct and/or clinical supervision to the assigned LPN's.
You will also provide and assist with the following:
- Health related and dietary education to individuals
- Staff education and certification in health related areas, to include general medical overview and medication administration certification
- TB testing and monitoring of staff
- Follow up/evaluation of internal events and incident reports in health related areas
Must possess the following education/credentials:
- Current and valid NYS Licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Current and valid NYS Driver's license (for at least 2 years), with acceptable driving record
- One year of nursing experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
