Overview

SMBC Strategic Credit Products Department (SCAD) is looking for a person to join their Leverage Finance Portfolio Management team who will be responsible for periodic credit monitoring and underwriting activity for an assigned portfolio of leveraged loan accounts. They will support senior level officers in preparing credit applications, reviewing quarterly loan reports, conducting regular credit reviews of loans and providing research and analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite increases to total facility, M&A transactions, dividends, refinancing, and re-pricing transactions that arise from existing portfolio;
  • Analyze, negotiate and prepare credit applications and amendments
  • Act as direct accounts manager for assigned stressed accounts
  • Prepare credit analysis for quarterly and annual reviews
  • Assist Head of Portfolio Management in various reporting and presentations to senior management as well as support the overall monitoring and management of the portfolio
  • Provide training and guidance to junior analysts in credit monitoring skills
  • Prepare financial projection models including Base Case and development of Stress Case scenario
  • Review of projections and budget achievement
  • Utilize various IT systems including customer setup, compliance, and portfolio management systems

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years / 1-3 years of comparable or relevant experience
  • 2-3 years / 1-2 years of experience working as a credit analyst at a bank or other financial institution preferred
  • Leverage lending experience in Middle Market or Large Cap is a plus
  • BA or BS degree required. Advanced accounting and finance coursework is preferred
  • CFA designation is a plus
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access) required
  • Experience with research databases such as Bloomberg and Capital IQ is a plus
