Responsibilities

Assists the Assistant Vice President of Performance Improvement in all Performance Improvement duties. Duties include maintains a cooperative relationship with the Chairman of Performance Improvement Committee and Medical Staff Clinical Directors and the Vice President of Medical Affairs.Monitors, plans, and implements an ongoing Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Programs which systematically evaluates patient care and opportunities to improve.Directs the implementation and operation of the Infection Control Program. Plans, organizes and directs the implementation and operations of Core Measure processes. Reviews data related to clinical care and utilization of hospital services and resources, identifies problem areas and refers appropriately.Directs implementation of Department of Health regulations as it pertains to Performance Improvement, Risk Management functions, and patient care issues.Reviews trends on patient injuries and Department of Health reportable incidents. Directs the coordination of medical staff's responses to quality issues identified by Medicare and Medicaid reviews.Develops and monitors operating budget for departments of Performance Improvement, and Infection Control.Reports information to the Governing Body and assists in fulfilling its responsibility for the quality of patient care to the Vice President Medical Affairs. Works with standing committees and department heads to accomplish objectives of Performance Improvement and Risk Management Programs.Directs implementation of Joint Commission regulations as it pertains to Performance Improvement, Risk Management functions, and patient care issues.Coordinates quality data acquisition, aggregation and presentation for regulatory bodies and population health related requests.

Qualifications

Current New York State Registered Nurse license required. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. CPHQ or other related professional organizational certifications. 3+ years of Performance Improvement management experience required, along with strong background working as a Registered Nurse. Strong collaborative skills and demonstrated written and verbal communications skills required. Thorough knowledge of MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
