Position Requirements: Minimum of a Graduate of an approved Nursing Program or higher level degree (Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate) in a clinical major. Must be a licensed NYS RN, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician. CCDS, CDIP, or CCS preferred. In lieu of NYS Clinical License, current CCDS, CDIP, or CCS required. Must have 3-5 years recent clinical or CDIP experience in a hospital setting. Case Management, Utilization Review or previous coding experience preferred. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong observational, analytical, and problem solving skills required.

Position Responsibilities: Clinical Documentation Improvement is responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation. Facilitates modifications to clinical documentation through extensive concurrent interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers and medical records coding staff to support that appropriate reimbursement and clinical severity is captured for the level of service rendered. Supports timely, accurate and complete documentation of clinical information used for measuring and reporting physician and hospital outcomes. Educates all members of the patient care team on an ongoing basis.
